How about the best of both worlds? Giant's Talon 27.5 5 gives you the lightweight feel of a 26-inch wheel, with the confidence and efficiency of a 29er. It all starts with Giant's ALUXX aluminum frame that's tough, yet light and responsive, just what you need for riding everywhere. Then you get a SunTour fork with 100mm of suspension to tame the rough stuff. Rough terrain or smooth, Shimano and Suntour team up to deliver 24 speeds for hill climbing, and Tektro disc brakes lend great speed control. And, Giant wheels and tires grip with authority and the Giant-branded stem, bars, and saddle are ready to go whenever you are.

I am a college student and bought this bike on a budget. For the price this bike is amazing. It is sturdy, fast, and looks awesome. It definitely can take a beating as my first few rides were full downhill crashes while testing the limits of the hardtail. I had been used to riding downhill full suspension bikes so it took me awhile to realize that this bike is not meant for hard downhill trails. That fact should be a given though considering this is a budget bike. HOWEVER, this bike is absolutely incredible for both smooth singletrack trails and road biking alike. Now that I have been riding the types of routes and trails this bike is meant for, I am 100% thrilled with my purchase. If you are looking for a bike that can take smooth singletrack trails like a champ and road routes with ease, you can't beat the price on this Giant. You cannot find many other bikes with front and real quick release wheels and front suspension lock out for this price. Overall I would highly reccommend this bike for somebody who, like me, is on a budget but wants a versatile and incredibly sturdy bike.
