45NRTH's vision for the Wölvhammer transcended traditional cycling footwear and originated from the conceptual standpoint of a mountaineering boot. This inspiration remains, pulling functional elements from the original while adding style and simplicity. The lace-up design with gusseted tongue keeps wet winter weather out and warmth in. The full-grain leather and ballistic nylon shell provides a durable barrier while the waterproof membrane protects your feet from the elements. The dedicated hook on the toe box pairs perfectly with the Bergraven Gaiters (sold separately) for when the snow gets deep.

I bought these boots a month ago. They keep my feet toasty in most sub zero temperatures for two hours. I got caught out in the rain an hour from home last week. They did not keep my feet dry. My feet were wet in spots where the laces tie up in the front. I will be buying a pair of the gaitors hoping that will solve the problem.
I've worn these down to minus 22 deg with just a single sock and feet were toasty for 2 hours! Who would have thought? I've never had boots like these!! At first I thought these might be clunky or rub the cranks, but not at all.. they are simply a perfect 'wrap' for the feet in the cold. Kinda pricey but these are worth every penny. Saving a few bucks in exchange for frozen toes is not my idea of pleasure. Don't think twice; if you ride in the winter, these are 'it'!! N.K.
I have had the shoe for 2 months in a variety of conditions all of which the shoe excelled in. My foot stayed dry in puddles and pouring rain. This week was -8F and with liner sock, baggie and thick wool sock with toe heater insert my toes did not freeze ! With the liner booty your foot has room to wiggle and stay warm. I love it as it feels like a mtb shoe and not a big hiking boot. I do not like other high ankle straps and stiff boots as it restricts my foot movement for balance. It feels comfortable to be able to jump off and run around an obstacle. Other winter boots are hard to walk in, these are flexible and do not restrict your movement. If you are riding the Arrowhead, maybe the 45north is a better option but for ripping single track snow trails I could not be happier. Also, you can keep the spd cleat centered so that there is less stress on your knees and hips. Other winter boots have you move the cleat more outside so your boot does not hit the crank. The sizing is off, I wear a us 11 shoe but went with a size 46.
